Carry Doorn

Biography – Carry Doorn (EN)
Carry Doorn is a Dutch artist and spatial designer with a background in fashion and textiles. After her career as a fashion designer, she fully dedicated herself to autonomous art. She mainly works with transparent materials such as metal mesh, tulle and plexiglass, creating sculptures that balance fragility and strength.
Her oeuvre spans several series. The metal mesh wall sculptures and free forms explore flow, layering and movement. Her latest series, Living Stream, ranges from small to monumental works and reflects the stream of life, the paths we walk and the choices that shape us. She also creates plexiglass cubes, where layers of tulle and textiles interact with light, colour and shadow, and layered mesh portraits that reveal identity and memory in an intimate way. With her recent Star Signs project, she translates astrological blueprints into objects and sculptures made of thin transparent metal mesh.
Carry exhibits nationally and internationally, collaborating with various galleries and art fairs.
